Immagine personalizzata

With Proud to be Italian, we want to share what makes us unique: the excellence,
identity, and passion that have always defined us.

In this series by echo/neutra, we give a voice to people, companies, communities, and objects that live and represent the most authentic Italy—an Italy made of creativity, craftsmanship, entrepreneurial vision, and a deep connection to the land.

Each episode is a journey through time: the time we dedicate to doing things well,
the time we respect, value, and transform every day.

Because it is through time that we measure the value of our know-how.

Proud to be Italian is a collective portrait.
An homage to those who carry on tradition while looking toward the future—with pride and determination.
It’s the Italy that inspires us. The Italy we are proud to share.

17 Generations

Sicilian Agricultural Company

Planeta is one of the most important agricultural estates in Sicily, with a history spanning 17 generations. It manages 371 hectares of vineyards across five territories (Menfi, Sambuca di Sicilia, Vittoria, Noto, Etna, and Capo Milazzo), seven wineries, 151 hectares of olive groves, and other certified organic crops.

The company combines viticultural research with the protection of native and heirloom varieties, and stands out for its excellent wine tourism, which blends wine, nature, and culture.
Sustainability is at the heart of the company’s philosophy, with all estates converted to organic farming, the creation of the SOSTAIN Foundation, and the PlanetaTerra project.

Among its special initiatives are Ab Insula, Serra Ferdinandea, and Castello Solicchiata—examples of promoting Sicily’s agricultural and cultural heritage.

International Recognition

“Winemaker of the Year”

Planeta is also a producer of organic extra virgin olive oil, with the Oasi Capparrina estate in Menfi, and offers hospitality experiences at several of its properties: La Foresteria in Menfi (a multi-award-winning restaurant), Palazzo Planeta in Palermo, the Insula Beach Club, and Casa Panitteri in Sambuca.
The cultural program “Culture for the Territory” includes events dedicated to music, theater, art, and literature; among the most renowned is the itinerant art project Journey through Sicily.
Now led by Alessio Planeta (CEO), together with Francesca, Santi, and a team of 270 collaborators, the company has received international recognition: in 2023, Alessio was named Winemaker of the Year by Wine Enthusiast, and in 2024, Planeta was awarded Wine Family of the Year at the Meininger Awards, also ranking third among the most admired Italian wineries in the world.
